ChroMyco® Duo consists of 5 individually wrapped circular
two-chambered plates with removable lids that allow for easy
inoculation and collection of samples for identification.
Each
ChroMyco® Duo plate contains both a Dermatophyte Test
Medium (DTM) as well as an Enhanced Sporulation Agar
(ESA) and is designed to diagnose the most relevant
veterinary dermatophytes – Microsporum, Trichophyton and
Epidermophyton spp .

How to use:
.The test is performed by veterinary staff taking a pluck of fur or skin scrape from the lesion and innoculating both sides. After three to six days, if dermatophytes are present, the DTM will turn red and the ESA will turn blue-green.
Once a colour change is identified, a sample of the culture can be taken from the ESA, a media prolific in growing dermatophytes.
Veterinary staff are then able to examine the fungus microscopically and identify the species of dermatophyte before advising on treatment.

To date the chart allows ID of: Microsporum canis, Microsporum gallinae, Microsporum gypseum, Microsporum nanum, Microsporum perisolour, Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton verrucosum and Trichophyton equinum
